Efo Shoko Seed

from $5.00

This cooking green is our favourite to grow and eat. Efo Shoko is easy, beautiful and continues to give, growing new delicious shoots after each harvest - the ultimate cut and come and again green (and flower!). Originally sourcing this from True Love Seeds, we have been growing and adapting this variety since 2021. There is really no going wrong with this plant, if you don’t stay on top of harvesting it, the stems become tough like callaloo but the greens are still good for the picking. By the end of the season Shoko, being a celosia, loves to say bye with a show of wonderful flowers that can be cut and dried to add colour to the home during the fall and winter months. Efo Shoko is a staple green in many Nigerian dishes and other cuisine across West Africa. Flavour is characteristic of the green and hard to compare, a cooking spinach with similar texture and nutiness like callaloo but without any bitterness. - yum!
