About the Farm
It’s Giving Farm is an ecological farm at the northern tip of Rouge National Urban Park in Uxbridge/Altona, Ontario. We grow a mix of annual vegetables and cut flowers on 5 acres. We farm using organic and regenerative practices with a four-wheel tractor and simple hand tools. We grow primarily for our farmers markets and CSA program, as well as a variety of restaurants and small grocers across the GTA. To learn more about the farm and us click here
About You
We’re looking for individuals eager to work for a small-scale, high-production vegetable farm. The ideal candidate has experience working in the food service industry and has a passion for local food. This job demands physical and mental stamina—you must be able to lift 50+ pounds regularly and work active days on your feet in all weather conditions: rain, wind, heat, and sun.
We value hard work, efficiency, and attention to detail. You should be comfortable working both independently and in a team, as most market days involve a mix of both. If you’re not much of a people person, this may not be the right fit. Working a farm stand requires hustle, interpersonal skills, and creativity—we take pride in doing it well. Success here means working quickly, communicating effectively, and taking ownership of the farm’s success.
We want team members who appreciate the beauty of farming, can embrace its challenges, and find humor in the hard parts. It’s not easy work, but it’s deeply rewarding.
About the Positions
We are hiring 3 part-time positions for the 2025 season
Hours will be 7:30AM - 1:30PM
Days available: Saturdays OR Sundays at either of our Markets, ~6 hours a day. 1-2 days a week depending on your availability.
The employment season is May - October
Compensation is $18/hr
Benefit of $30 worth of veggies + flowers
Responsibilities
Showing up on time to unload produce and market supplies - punctuality is key
Set up, maintain, and break down a beautiful market display efficiently
Accurately handle cash transactions and make change quickly
Engage positively with customers, fellow vendors, and market staff—be helpful, patient, and professional
Represent the farm with pride—you are the face of our business!
Background & Skills
Previous food/customer service experience is highly preferred, but we’re open to the right candidate
Must meet all the criteria listed in the "About You" section
Knowledge of vegetables and a passion for sharing that knowledge with others
